Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor

In early 2019 we will begin construction on a new community hub and long term care centre. This centre will replace the existing Peel Manor Long Term Care Centre.

The new building will be complete in 2021. It will feature a community hub with a variety of activities and spaces, a long term care centre, and an adult day program.

The larger site will host an exciting new park space.

Peel Manor has been serving the community since 1898. What began as a house of refuge became a long term care home for 177 people. The current site provides an adult day program and Meals on Wheels serving Brampton and Mississauga.

Building a new Peel Manor

Our vision

The Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor is the heart of a vibrant, thriving neighbourhood that enhances the quality of life and supports the well-being of those who live and work in the Village, and the surrounding community.

Peel Regional Council approved the creation of a new community hub and long term care centre to replace the existing Peel Manor building. The new Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor will be built beside the current building. This will allow people living in Peel Manor to move only once, instead of having to move them into a temporary home. Once complete, the current building will be taken down to make way for a new community park space that will be completed in 2022.

A new Peel Manor will include:

Construction

We will start construction of the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor in early 2019.

By the end of this year we will get started by moving the play equipment at Murray Street Park, installing the construction parking on the Peel Manor grounds and beginning on the construction walls.

The site will be separated by walls during construction.

Every effort will be made to control noise and dust. Most work will happen in daytime. All construction traffic will be asked to enter from Main Street to limit the impact to Murray Street.

If you have any questions or concerns about construction, please email us.

How we are involving the community

Over the past four years we have reached out to people who live in, work at, or visit Peel Manor, along with those who live in the surrounding neighbourhood. We have done this through meet-ups, information sessions, mailings, and door-to-door chats.

Our goal is to ensure the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor remains a valued part of the community.

We used the feedback throughout the planning phases of the building design. The final design reflects the voice of the community.

We will continue to reach out to the community throughout the construction and program planning.
