Located in the heart of a well-established residential community known as Park Royal, Sheridan Villa has more than 40 years of experience in caring for the Peel community.
Sheridan Villa been recently renovated into a 142-bed modern home for residents and Adult Day Service clients.
Sheridan Villa’s resident home areas are spacious, bright and welcoming. Each area has its own dining room, a designated space for activities, a lounge and a terrace.
A greenhouse, spacious lobby with a café, tuck shop and numerous cozy seating areas are welcoming features of the main floor.
A therapeutic garden on the south side of the building has raised flower and vegetable beds, a water fountain, herb garden and gazebo. It’s the perfect place for residents to relax in the summer and participate in horticultural activities. Sheridan Villa's outdoor garden provides a safe environment for residents with dementia.
Special Behaviour Support Unit
The Special Behaviour Support Unit (SBSU) is a 19-bed unit within Sheridan Villa for clients who have a primary diagnosis of dementia with significant behaviours that cannot be managed in the client's current environment. It is a transitional treatment unit and not intended to be a resource for emergency treatment.
Resident and Family Councils
The Resident Council meets monthly to provide a forum for residents to discuss concerns and make suggestions for improvements in their quality of life within the home.
The Family Council meets on a monthly basis to bring forward questions or concerns related to resident care. It is an opportunity for family members to meet and become part of the Sheridan Villa community.
Early Years Program
Sheridan Villa has developed several partnerships with local organizations. The Early Years Program operates the Parents and Tots centre on the first floor every weekday morning. Residents often visit to interact with children and participate in activities together. Local schools and entertainers also visit frequently to perform for residents at special events and celebrations.
About Acting Administrator Melissa Khedar
Melissa Khedar became the Acting Administrator of Sheridan Villa in January 2016. Melissa has been actively involved in the greater long-term care community since 2000 when she started as a volunteer. Since then, she has held management positions in both the psychogeriatric and long-term care sectors.
Melissa joined the Region in 2010 as an Activation and Volunteer Services Supervisor. She has also seized the opportunity to take an acting administrator role numerous times during her time with the Region.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology. She has her OLTCA Administrator Certification and Canadian Healthcare Association Administrator Certification. Melissa has also completed the Canadian Healthcare Association’s Long-Term Care Management Program.
Melissa always enjoys meeting new people in long-term care and is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their lives, family and their life journey. She feels blessed to be able to help them in any capacity to continue to dream big and live a life of new experiences.
