UPDATE - Mandatory Water Use Restrictions Continue in the Region of Peel
(Brampton) - The mandatory water use restrictions imposed last week in the Cities of Mississauga and Brampton and the Town of Caledon remain in place until further notice.
Peel residents are reminded to refrain from the following:
- watering lawns
- washing cars
- washing driveways or sidewalks
Owners of businesses and residents with automated sprinkler systems are also required to turn them off until further notice. Flower and vegetable gardens can be watered. New sod recently laid is exempt from the water ban.
"Residents have done a great job so far in complying with the water use restrictions," says Mitch Zamojc, Commissioner of Public Works for the Region of Peel. "Our intention is to lift the ban as soon as the levels in Peel's water reservoirs show consistent improvement."
Regional staff are monitoring the situation and are advising residents of the mandatory water use restrictions. Officials will be reviewing the situation daily to determine when the restrictions can be lifted.
Further information is available by calling 905-791-7800, Ext. 4409.
