Paramedic Week In Peel
September 24 To 29, 2001
(Brampton) - Peel Regional Ambulance Services will host Paramedic Week in Peel from September 24 to 29, 2001. The week-long event will offer a range of activities designed to foster public awareness of Peel's paramedic professionals and the critical emergency medical services provided by the Region of Peel's ambulance service.
"Paramedic Week in Peel provides an opportunity for Peel citizens to learn about and recognize the contributions paramedics make as skilled medical professionals," says Joseph Moore, General Manager, Ambulance and Emergency Programs. "It's a chance to meet the dedicated individuals who deliver quality emergency medical services as an integral part of Peel Regional Ambulance Services."
Highlights of Paramedic Week in Peel include:
- Mall displays in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon
- Open house event on September 29 featuring equipment and lifesaving demonstrations and a free barbecue
- An inaugural awards program for paramedic excellence
- Moment of silence and flag lowering ceremony at selected ambulance stations to honour Canadian paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty
"Peel Regional Ambulance Services has done a terrific job managing the transfer of responsibilities for land ambulance services from the province," says Emil Kolb, Region of Peel Chair. "The Region of Peel is well positioned to provide seamless land ambulance service that is consistent across municipal borders. We invite everyone in the local community to meet the paramedics who provide such exceptional service to the residents of Peel."
