KEEP FIRE HYDRANTS CLEAR IN WINTER WEATHER
(Brampton) - As snow continues to fall in the Region of Peel, it's important to keep fire hydrants clear of snow to enable quick and easy access in the event of a fire emergency. The recent snow accumulations and cold temperatures have resulted in large snow banks that have buried hydrants due to shovelling or plowing.
"We all make the effort to keep our sidewalks and walkways clear of snow," says Peter Williams, Acting Director, Operations and Maintenance. "It's also important to make sure that hydrants in residential and commercial areas are visible and accessible throughout the winter."
Anyone requiring assistance in clearing a hydrant can contact the Region of Peel's Public Works department, 905-791-7800, Ext. 4409/4410.
