South West Mississauga Area Residents Invited to Attend Community Recycling Centre Open House

(Brampton) - To learn more about the proposed Community Recycling Centre (CRC) coming to South West Mississauga, Peel Region's Waste Management division is hosting an Open House for area residents and local small businesses.

Date: Thursday, June 21, 2001
Time: 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Hillside Senior School
1290 Kelly Rd.
(Truscott Drive and Southdown Road)

The Open House will provide area residents and small businesses with an opportunity to learn more about the services offered at the CRC. Peel Region Waste Management and Planning staff will be on hand to answer residents' questions and receive comments.

The proposed CRC, currently in the planning stage, is slated to open in the fall of 2002. As part of a network of six CRCs projected for the Region of Peel, this CRC will be located in Clarkson, on Lakeshore Road West at the Clarkson Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Designed to accept and accommodate a wide range of recyclable materials, some of which are not accepted in the curbside collection program, CRCs are convenient and user-friendly, offering community members more opportunities to dispose of their recyclable goods. CRCs also accept household hazardous waste and non-recyclable materials.

"We are working hard at the Region of Peel to develop the best possible programs and services to make recycling easier and a way of life for all residents in the community," says Andrew Pollock, Director, Waste Management for the Region of Peel. "We encourage area residents and businesses to attend the Open House and find out about the plan for a CRC in their area."
