FRIDAY, MARCH 16, 2001

(Brampton) -- Steeles Avenue, between Chinguacousy Road and Mississauga Road, will be reduced to single lane traffic, with intermittent stoppages, on Friday, March 16, 2001, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

" These delays are needed to allow work crews time to unload 24 concrete beams that are 25 metres in length. The concrete beams will be used to complete the new Steeles Avenue Bridge across the Credit River," said Bob Nieuwenhuysen, Project Manager with the Region of Peel.

Throughout the day, trucks carrying two concrete beams each will arrive approximately every 15 to 25 minutes. It will take approximately 10 minutes to unload the trucks. Traffic flow will be permitted between truck arrivals. Traffic stoppages are necessary while the beams are being lifted off the truck to ensure the safety of motorists.

When driving through the construction zone, please exercise caution or seek an alternate route during this time period.
