Mississauga Environment Day Is A Complete Success

(Brampton) - On Saturday, April 28, more than 1,750 Mississauga residents participated in Spring Environment Day at Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School.

"Once again, Environment Day was a success," said Dwayne Cromwell, Supervisor, Waste Processing. "This was a great opportunity for residents to get rid of all that excess material they had no need for, and we were pleased to provide them with this service."

The following items were collected at Environment Day:

All Regional recycling depots including the Britannia Public Waste and Recycling Depot, Brampton Recycling Depot, Bolton Community Recycling Centre and Caledon Public Waste and Recycling Depot accepted yard waste and household hazardous waste, free-of-charge, at their own Environment Day on Saturday, April 28.

"The Region of Peel strongly emphasizes the importance of recycling," said Cromwell. "The success of Environment Day shows that Peel residents want to do what's right for the environment."

In exchange for food donations for FoodPath, residents were given two free bags of garden compost. At the end of the day, a combined total of 2.5 tonnes of food was collected at all Regional depots and Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School.
A second Environment Day will take place in the city of Brampton on Saturday, May 12, 2001 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brampton Centre for Sports and Entertainment, 7575 Kennedy Rd. S., Brampton. Regional recycling facilities will also be accepting recyclables, free-of-charge, on this day.
