Photo opportunity of a cheque presentation of $5,000 by Peel Regional Chair Emil Kolb to Camp Oochigeas, established in 1984 as the first residential cancer camp in Canada. Funds raised from the Annual Emil Kolb Hootenany - a fall country dance and fundraiser that has over its first six years raised more than $180,000 for children's charities.
During the summer of 2001, Camp Oochigeas provided three two-week sessions for more than 200 children with cancer. The Camp is located at Rosseau Lake College near Parry Sound.
The children attend Camp Oochigeas free of charge. Oochigeas receives no government funding. The Camp relies on donations and volunteers. In 2000 over 200 volunteers helped at the Camp, contributing approximately 65,000 hours of service.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 12 at 10 a.m. We will have representatives from Camp Oochigeas, Chair Kolb and Officers from Peel Regional Police for the photo. WHERE:
