Peel Regional Ambulance Services Sets Up Relief Fund
(Brampton) -- Peel Regional Ambulance Services, in partnership with Peel Regional Police and area municipal fire departments, is setting up a "Remembrance Ribbon Campaign" in honour of emergency services personnel lost and injured in the recent attack in the United States.
Starting Wednesday, Sept. 19, Peel citizens can make a donation and obtain a black ribbon. Proceeds will go to the New York Firefighters Disaster Relief Fund in the wake of Tuesday's horrific events.
"It's a tragic time for families and colleagues of all emergency services professionals who lost their lives in a truly heroic effort," says Kathryn Karcz, Manager, Administration, Peel Regional Ambulance Services. "By participating in the ribbon campaign, Peel citizens can show their support for these courageous men and women, and can make a positive contribution in the face of tremendous sadness."
"I am pleased to join with Mayors McCallion, Fennell and Seglins and our emergency services partners to endorse this campaign, and I appeal to all Peel citizens to embrace this worthwhile effort," says Emil Kolb, Regional Chair.
"Everyone feels a sense of helplessness at a time like this," says Mayor Hazel McCallion, City of Mississauga. "The Remembrance Ribbon Campaign is a way for people to give and show their support for those who are enduring great loss."
"The resolve and goodwill of a nation has been challenged," says Mayor Susan Fennell, City of Brampton. "Each positive action symbolizes the triumph and resiliency of the human spirit, and I urge everyone to give."
"The citizens of Caledon have a tradition of coming together in times of crisis," says Mayor Carol Seglins, Town of Caledon. "I know we will be true to that tradition in support of this campaign, give what we can, and wear a ribbon to show that we care."
