Regional Council Approves Repairs to the
Charleston Sideroad Bridge over the Orangeville - Brampton Railway Line in the Town of Caledon

(Brampton) - Regional Council yesterday approved repairs to the Charleston Sideroad (Highway 24) Bridge in the Town of Caledon, as part of Peel's bridge maintenance program. The bridge is located between Main Street and McLaren Road.

Traffic across the Charleston Sideroad Bridge will be restricted to one lane. A temporary traffic signal system will be in place to regulate the movement of traffic across the bridge.

"We take pride in being leaders in the Public Works industry," said Public Works Commissioner Mitch Zamojc, "That comes from managing our road and bridge network in the most cost effective manner and with minimal inconvenience to drivers."

The cost of the repairs totals approximately $579,000. Bob Hendrickson Construction will carry out the bridge repair work on behalf of the Region. Work on the bridge will commence during the month of September and is expected to be completed by December, 2001.
