Dixie Road Watermain Replacement Project
Begins September 17, 2001

(Brampton) - Southbound traffic on Dixie Road between Eglinton Avenue and Highway 401 in Mississauga will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning on September 17, 2001, to allow the Region of Peel to install a new watermain.

The $1.6 million watermain replacement project will see the Region of Peel install a new
400-millimetre (16 inch) in diameter concrete watermain to replace an aging cast iron and lead joint watermain.

"Installing this new watermain now will help us continue to deliver quality drinking water to residents of Peel and at the same time keep replacement costs low," said Region of Peel Commissioner of Public Works, Mitch Zamojc.

A combination of day and night work will be used to expedite the work and minimize the disruption to business and traffic in the area.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during that period.
