( Brampton ) – Three Peel Regional Ambulance Services Paramedics recently received the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Exemplary Service medal.
Pamela Munro, Platoon Supervisor with Superior Emergency Medical Services (SEMS); Tom Reid, Manager of Dufferin-Caledon Ambulance Services; and Norman House, Primary Care Paramedic received the awards at a ceremony held at the Association of Municipal Emergency Medical Services of Ontario’s (AMEMSO) annual conference in September 2004.
“We’re proud of our paramedics and their strong commitment to the profession,” said Regional Councillor Paul Palleschi, Chair of the Emergency and Protective Services Committee.
The Governor General’s Service award recognizes professionals in the provision of pre-hospital emergency medical services. Recipients are characterized by good conduct, industry excellence and efficiency, and have completed at least 20 years of service, including 10 years of street-level duty involving potential risk. At the event, Major General Richard Rohmer presented the awards on behalf of Governor General Adrienne Clarkson.
"It’s great to see Pam, Tom and Norm receive recognition for the hard work they’ve devoted to paramedicine and to their communities for more than 20 years,” said Peter Dundas, Director of Ambulance and Emergency Programs, Region of Peel.
In 2003, Region of Peel Paramedics responded to over 85,000 calls in the Peel community.
