“This award speaks to the high quality of care and services offered to the residents and Adult Day Program clients at our long-term care centres. It recognizes the dedication and hard work of long-term care staff and acknowledges Region of Peel Long Term Care as a leader in the field. Everyone involved with Accreditation should be proud of this achievement,” said Acting Chair Maja Prentice who was presented with the Certificate of Accreditation from CCHSA.

Accreditation is a comprehensive evaluation completed by organizations every three years. The Accreditation process includes two phases of review: an internal self-assessment and an external evaluation by qualified CCHSA surveyors. During the review several areas were evaluated and measured against a set of national standards of quality, including client care, service delivery and organizational excellence. The self-assessment was completed in collaboration with many stakeholders, including residents and their families, volunteers, long-term care and Regional staff, and community representatives. The on-site assessment at each long-term care centre was conducted by CCHSA in September 2004.

“Accreditation is the symbol of quality service for the long-term care sector. By participating in Accreditation we show our residents and families we understand that there is always room for improvement and that we are willing to identify those opportunities and make changes,” said Director of Long Term Care Janette Smith. “I congratulate all long-term care staff and everyone who was involved with the Accreditation process for their hard work and dedication.”

Region of Peel Long Term Care Centres have a long standing commitment to the Accreditation process, with the first award granted by CCHSA in 1989.
