"Today, we have many reasons to celebrate. The new dining room is a wonderful addition to the Davis Centre and will make having meals here much more comfortable and enjoyable for the residents," said Mayor of Caledon Marolyn Morrison. "The Davis Centre is well known in our community for its high quality of care and services and for the compassion and dedication of staff and volunteers. I thank all staff and volunteers for their hard work and for helping the residents and Adult Day Program participants stay connected to our community through various activities."
The Centre's dining room was expanded to meet the growing needs of the residents. With more residents with wheelchairs and walkers, the space of the old dining room was limited and did not comply with current standards. The new dining room is more accessible, comfortable and allows for a more efficient service delivery.
The design of the dining room was developed with input from residents, staff, volunteers and family members. It includes a stone fireplace and a unique chalet-like ceiling, which provides an outdoor feeling all year long.
"I have a special connection with the Davis Centre. I've been a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Program for some time and I always enjoy spending time in this centre," said Regional Councillor Annette Groves. "I want to thank all the volunteers for their work and commitment. Your contributions enhance the care and support for the Davis Centre residents and Adult Day Program clients, and we are very fortunate to have so many dedicated people helping us."
