Malton Village Long Term Care Centre Welcomes First Residents
(Brampton) - Wednesday, July 21 was a special day for staff at Malton Village
Long Term Care Centre. They welcomed the centre's first residents - Mr. and
Mrs. Phillip Mills.
The happy couple arrived at Malton Village mid-morning and immediately went
about personalizing their new home and introducing themselves to the staff members.
Together with other residents, they will receive individualized care and participate
in a variety of activities including trips to local shopping malls, games, social
events, exercises and pub nights.
"We are thrilled to welcome our first residents to Malton Village and
looking forward to providing quality care in consultation with residents and
their families," said Wendy Beattie, Administrator of Malton Village.
Mr. and Mrs. Mills had been living apart for several months and missed being
together so they decided to find a long term care centre where they could share
accommodations. Mr. Mills came across an advertisement in the newspaper for
Malton Village and decided that it was the perfect centre to reunite these love
birds of 58 years.
Later in the afternoon, Ms. Elva Myers, another new resident at Malton Village,
joined the reunited couple. More residents will be moving in throughout July
Malton Village is the Region of Peel's newest long-term care centre and has
the capacity to accommodate 160 residents in a spacious, home-like environment.
The centre is divided into six residential areas complete with dining, recreational
and outdoor space. Home areas overlook two beautifully landscaped courtyards.
The centre currently has vacancies for both basic and private accommodations.
