Sheridan Villa Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday
(Mississauga) - In 1905, the first movie theatre opened, the Popsicle invented and Norway became independent of Sweden. In the same year, William Moore, a current Sheridan Villa resident, was born. On Jan. 13, William, his family and friends are celebrating his centennial birthday with a big party at Sheridan Villa.
As a young man, William managed an aircraft at wartime and later worked as a bus driver and the manager of Winter Gardens Ballroom in England. He loves ballroom dancing and was fortunate enough to have met the Queen while managing the ballroom.
William attributes his longevity to a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and a positive attitude about life.
"I have enjoyed all of my life experiences," said Moore. "Keeping fit and loving life are the reasons why I'm still alive and I hope to live through the next 100 years."
Mr. Moore immigrated to Canada from England in 1980 with his former wife to be with their son, who he had not seen in 25 years. In 1997, Mr. Moore moved to Sheridan Villa and has lived there for the last eight years.
"Mr. Moore takes advantage of every opportunity in life," said Inga Mazuryk, Administrator at Sheridan Villa. "We are certainly very lucky to have this living legend with us and we wish him many more happy returns."
