Regional Long Term Care Centres Will Open Their Doors to the Community

( Brampton ) - Traditionally, June is Seniors' Month in Ontario. During this time, we celebrate and recognize men and women who continue to contribute their energy and experience to our communities. Today, Regional Council proclaimed June as Seniors' Month in the Region of Peel.

Throughout June all five Region of Peel Long Term Care Centres will have events for the residents and Adult Day Program participants. The centres will also participate in Open Your Doors, a one-day event across Ontario, when several long-term care centres and retirement residences will open their doors to educate the community about their care and services for older adults. The event is free of charge.

"We are excited to invite the community to tour our centres and talk to people about the available options for older adults," said Janette Smith, Director of Long Term Care. "Currently, we have vacant beds available to meet the needs of the community. Visit our centres on June 18 and learn about the care and programs we offer for residents and Adult Day Program participants."

Information about Open Your Doors at Regional long-term care centres will be available in advertisements in local newspapers and on the Peel Long Term Care Web site.

The Region of Peel has a tradition of caring for the older adults of our community for more than 100 years. We operate five long-term care centres - Davis Centre, Malton Village, Peel Manor, Sheridan Villa and Tall Pines. At our centres, residents experience a rich quality of life through personalized care, stimulating activities and an ongoing connection with the diverse communities in Peel. We also offer Adult Day Programs.

All of our centres operate in accordance and compliance with the relevant legislation of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the policies of the Region of Peel. Our long-term care centres are accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
