Workplace Quality Award Goes to Peel Long Term Care

( Brampton ) – Region of Peel Long Term Care received the Workplace Quality Award from the Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors (OANHSS). The Award recognizes practical and creative programs and strategies that foster workplace excellence.

Every year, staff at the five Regional long-term care centres, along with all Regional staff, complete a survey to tell about their work experience and how it can be improved . In follow-up to last year’s survey, long-term care employees identified key actions to improve communication and work environment.

“I am pleased to present this award to Peel Long Term Care. The survey and the effort to improve communication show your commitment to the wellbeing of your staff and the quality of care that they provide to your residents,” said Donna Rubin, OANHSS Chief Executive Officer.

"Effective communication in a health care field is extremely important, especially when providing services for the older population. I congratulate all Long Term Care staff on receiving the award and commend them for their creativity and dedication to residents you care for,” said Regional Councillor Annette Groves, Vice-Chair of Human Services.

The Region of Peel has a tradition of caring for the older adults of our community for more than 100 years. We operate five long-term care centres – Davis Centre, Malton Village , Peel Manor, Sheridan Villa and Tall Pines. At our centres, residents experience a rich quality of life through personalized care, stimulating activities and an ongoing connection with the diverse communities in Peel. All of our centres operate in accordance and compliance with the relevant legislation of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the policies of the Region of Peel. Our long-term care centres are accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
