Celebration of Successes at the Grand Opening of Malton Village

( Brampton ) – Celebration of successes was the theme of the Grand Opening of Malton Village Long Term Care Centre, which took place on June 22. The celebration recognized contributions of many people who helped build and open this state-of-the art centre. Most importantly, the guests were thrilled to congratulate and thank those who now live and work at Malton Village – its many residents, staff and volunteers.

The Tropical Heat steel drum band set the mood, and the crowd anxiously awaited the official ribbon cutting ceremony and a Caribbean-style barbecue. As the ribbon was cut, the Region of Peel marked another important milestone in the history of providing long-term care services and programs in Peel.

“ Malton Village has joined a family of other four Regional Long Term Care Centres. It’s been a long journey but it’s so rewarding to open this new centre to provide services for older adults in our community,” said Regional Chair Emil Kolb. “The Region of Peel is known in our community and beyond for our quality services and dedicated staff. Malton Village will continue our rich tradition of caring and being connected to our community.”

Regional Councillor Eve Adams brought greetings from the City of Mississauga and the citizens of her ward. “ Our diverse community is growing every year. Our senior population is also on the rise. And although more and more older adults are healthier and live longer, the number of those who require special care will increase in the future. And that’s why we need centres like Malton Village,” said Councillor Adams. “Our priority is to take care of you – people who helped build and shape our community and our country and who now need our assistance.”

At Malton Village, residents enjoy a friendly home-like environment with comfortable dining, living and recreation rooms. The centre has two beautiful courtyards where residents can spend time relaxing or enjoying horticultural activities in the summer.

  • Malton Village offers residents 24-hour nursing care, medical care, personal nutrition plan, rehabilitative services, spiritual care, alternative therapies, palliative care and housekeeping and laundry. In addition, the home has an Adult Day Program for older adults to enjoy various activities and social interaction.

Malton Village has beds available for people who require care. The Adult Day Program has spaces for new participants.

The Region of Peel has a tradition of caring for the older adults of our community for more than 100 years. We operate five long-term care centres – Davis Centre, Malton Village, Peel Manor, Sheridan Villa and Tall Pines. Many of our centres have beds available for those who require 24-hour nursing and personalized care. At our centres, residents experience a rich quality of life through stimulating activities and an ongoing connection with the diverse communities in Peel.

All of our centres operate in accordance and compliance with the relevant legislation of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the policies of the Region of Peel. Our long-term care centres are accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
