In-store Instant Rebates on High Efficiency Toilets
BRAMPTON, ON. (April 16, 2010) – The Region of Peel and local retailers make it easy for residents to save money and reduce water use by offering in-store instant rebates on high efficiency toilets.
A $60 instant rebate can be applied at the point of purchase to toilets labeled Peel-Approved that are either:
- Single-flush toilets with less than or equal to 4.8 litres per flush;
- Dual-flush toilets with both:
- reduced flush volume of less than or equal to 4.1 litres
- full flush volume of less than or equal to 6 litres
In-store rebates are available at the following locations:
Peel Tile: Saturday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 3620A Laird Rd., Mississauga, L5L 6A8
Lowes: Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- 370 Kennedy Rd. S., Brampton, L6W 4V2
- 10111 Heart Lake Rd., Brampton, L6Z 0E4
The Region of Peel will be at each store to help fill out application forms, assist with the selection of approved toilet models, and answer any questions about water efficiency and Peel’s programs.
To be eligible for the instant rebates, applicants must live in Peel and own or rent a single or multi-family dwelling. Applicants are requested to bring proof of residency, such as a copy of a water bill or valid photo ID, to verify eligibility. The instant rebate applies to in-stock toilets only, and there are no rain checks.
Mail-in rebates are also available from the Region of Peel on an ongoing basis as part of the Toilet Replacement Program. In 2009, the Region of Peel provided over 27,000 rebates to residents as incentive to phase out older, less efficient (13-20 litres) toilet models, which saved over 2 mega litres of water per day. The reduction in water and wastewater that requires treatment and distribution also contributes to a reduction in energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
