Older Adult Community Fair in Mississauga’s Park Royal/Clarkson Community

Focus on healthy living and wellness

Mississauga – Community support specialists, dietitians, recreation professionals, and public health nurses will all be on hand for the first Park Royal/Clarkson Older Adult Community Fair, taking place on Friday, October 29, 2010. The fair is being jointly sponsored by the Region of Peel, the City of Mississauga and the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO).

“We have a large and growing community of older adults in Park Royal/Clarkson and this population wants to stay active and healthy for as long as possible,” says Allyson Mitchell, Supervisor Adult Day & Community Services at Sheridan Villa. “With this fair, we want them to know about the many programs and services located right in their own neighbourhood.”

Vendors and information booths scheduled for the event include Diabetes Screening, Healthy Sexuality, Dental Health for seniors, Miway: the new Mississauga Transit and Housing Options.

When: Friday, October 29, 2010
Where: Sheridan Villa Long Term Care Centre
2640 Truscott Drive
Time: 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm

“This fair is a free event and we’re encouraging as many older adults from our community to attend as possible,” says Allyson. The organizers will also be asking attendees to fill in a survey asking what kinds of programming they would like to see developed in the Park Royal/Clarkson community. View Survey information.
