Peel Welcomes Early Child Development Experts from Across North America to Unveil New Research

What: Members of the media are invited to attend this important conference that will share the findings of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded research project exploring interventions for improving the wellbeing of Canadian children. The research is the result of collaboration between Peel Public Health and top Canadian researchers in the field of early childhood development.
Why: Health before, during and after pregnancy builds a strong foundation for life. Healthy babies grow to be healthy, productive adults, which can reduce the social and economic burdens that result from a poor start to life. The goal of Peel Public Health’s strategic priority, Nurturing the Next Generation, is to give Peel children the best possible start, and a better future. Conference attendees will explore how the research findings can be applied to practice in shaping the future of early child development in Canada.

Dr. Bruce McEwen: Alfred E. Mirsky Professor and Head of the Harold and Margaret Milliken Hatch Laboratory of Neuroendocrinology, The Rockefeller University
Dr. Stuart Shanker: Research Professor of Philosophy and Psychology and Director, Milton and Ethel Harris Research Initiative, York University
Dr. Nicole Letourneau: Professor at the University of Calgary, Norlien/ACHF Chair in Parent-Infant Mental Health
