Add Some Art and Culture to Your Plans This Holiday Season with a Visit to PAMA

BRAMPTON, ON (Dec. 13, 2012) – The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is ready to welcome you during the holidays. The newly opened space offers something for everyone this season. Come explore the exciting art gallery and museum exhibitions or take part in drop-in workshops where you can get creative. Also not to be missed is the new interactive touch table that allows visitors to explore Peel Region using state-of-the-art technology.

“The holidays are a great time to come and explore your local art gallery and museum,” said Claire Loughheed, Manager, PAMA. “Not only do we have brand new exhibitions but there are also a number of drop-in workshops that are free with admission that give visitors the opportunity to get creative and take home their own masterpiece.”

Exhibitions include:

Drawing with Scissors: Molas from Kuna Yala
Organized by the Textile Museum of Canada and curated by Max Allen. This colourful exhibit features mola clothing made by the Kuna people of Panama. The textiles feature modern designs made with traditional skills.

Behind Bars: The Story of the Peel County Jail
Find out what it was like to be in jail 50 or 100 years ago. Discover who lived and worked there and how things have changed over time. This exhibition is located in the real cells of the historic Peel County Jail.

Passages
This photo-based exhibition, curated by Christine Boyanoski, brings together artists of varied cultural backgrounds who investigate personal and family history in their work. Artists include Sara Angelucci, Greg Staats, William Eakin, Donald Rance and Vid Ingelevics. Ingelevics has created a special installation based on the Russell Cooper Collection of the PAMA Archives.

Lyn Carter: Cover
Carter’s fabric covered organic forms challenge our notions of the medium of sculpture. This ten-year survey of her work is presented in partnership with Cambridge Galleries.
