Holiday Season Service and Delivery in Peel Region

BRAMPTON, ON. (Dec. 18, 2012) – Region of Peel offices and non-emergency services will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 25, 2012 to Jan. 1, 2013, inclusive.

During the weeks of Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, residents in Brampton and Mississauga are reminded that garbage and recycling (blue box and green bin) will be collected later due to the holidays. Regular collection days remain the same on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

The following is a revised waste collection schedule:

Residents in Caledon are advised that garbage and recycling (blue box and green bin) will be collected one day later due to the holidays.

Note: Residents in the Bi-Weekly Waste Collection Pilot Project areas are to refer to their collection calendars.

All Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) will be closed on the following days during the holiday period:

  • Monday, Dec. 24
  • Tuesday, Dec. 25
  • Wednesday, Dec. 26
  • Monday, Dec. 31
  • Tuesday, Jan. 1

CRCs will operate under regular hours and regular days of the week on all other days during the holiday period.

For emergencies related to food, shelter, medication and personal supports, call the Ontario Works after-hours line at 905-793-9200 or the Region's main line at 905-791-7800.

Peel Public Health will not be accepting water samples Dec. 20 to Jan. 1. Regular collection service will resume on Jan. 2. Residents can drop off samples directly to the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion – Central Public Health Laboratory located at 81 Resources Rd., Etobicoke. Call 416-235-6556 or

The TransHelp office will be closed Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, and reopen on Jan. 2. Holiday service hours are as follows:

  • Monday, Dec. 24 Full service: 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. (Dec. 25)
  • Tuesday, Dec. 25 Taxi service only
  • Wednesday, Dec. 26 Taxi service only
  • Thursday, Dec. 27 to Sunday, Dec. 30 Full service: 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. (Dec. 31)
  • Monday, Dec. 31 Full service: 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. (ride free from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.)
  • Tuesday, Jan. 1 Taxi service only
  • Wednesday, Jan. 2 Full service: 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. (Jan. 3)

Registered clients may continue to book trips as usual Dec. 27 to 30 by calling the Region's Customer Contact Centre at 905-791-1015 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
