Region of Peel’s Victoria Day Service Hours

BRAMPTON, ON. (May 14, 2012) – Region of Peel offices and non-emergency services will be closed for Victoria Day on Monday, May 21, 2012. Reduced Transhelp services, however, will be available.

Residents in Brampton and Mississauga are reminded there will be no waste collection on May 21 due to the Victoria Day holiday. Garbage and recycling (blue box and green bin) will be collected one day later. However, residents in Caledon are advised there will be no changes to their waste collection services. Garbage and recycling (blue box and green bin) will be collected on regularly scheduled days.

Labour Disruption
The labour disruption affecting Human Services continues. There is no disruption in Ontario Works payments, child care and housing subsidies. Please call 905-791-7800 or visit peelregion.ca for the latest updates. As of today, the following services are affected:

10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
– Human Services Reception

Closed. Clients are asked to access the 7120 Hurontario St. location in Mississauga. Employment Resource Centre will be closed.

7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga
– Human Services Reception

Open Monday to Friday, with reduced hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for pre-booked appointments. Employment Resource Centre will be closed.

Ontario Works

Applications will continue to be taken and clients will continue to receive their social assistance payments. Applications can be completed online at peelregion.ca. Call 905-793-9200 for more information.

Housing Subsidy
and Housing Waitlist

Applications will continue to be taken and applicants on the subsidy wait list will continue to be placed as units become available. Applications can be completed online at peelregion.ca. Call 905-453-1300 for more information.

Child Care Subsidy

Applications will continue to be taken and children on the subsidy wait list will continue to be placed as spaces become available. Applications can be completed online at peelregion.ca. Call 905-791-1585 for more information.

Employment Resource Centres
– Brampton and Mississauga locations

Closed. Clients currently attending or registered to begin employment training programs at non-Regional facilities will be able to attend during the disruption.

The following services will be closed on May 21 and reopen on May 22:

  • Peel’s Community Recycling Centres
  • Learn.Play.Care Child Care Centres, Peel Living, Rent Supplement, Early Learning Services and Children’s Services Operations
  • All breastfeeding clinic services offered at Brampton Breastfeeding Clinic and the Peel Public Health – Meadowvale. Breastfeeding clinics operate by appointment only. To book an appointment, please call 905-799-7700.
  • All Healthy Sexuality Clinics

TransHelp service hours will be available from 6 a.m. on May 21 to 1 a.m. on May 22. Service will be provided by taxi vendors, but not by bus. Accessible Transportation offices will be closed. Regular office hours and bus service will resume on May 22.
