BRAMPTON, ON. (June 5, 2012) – Residents are advised that as a result of the labour dispute involving Public Works employees represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 966, changes have been made to the curbside collection program.
Recognizing that collection of garbage and organics is the priority, effective immediately, yard waste in the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga will not be collected. Residents are asked to hold on to their yard waste material until further notice. Reducing the volume of material at curbside through this temporary program change will ensure that the remaining materials are collected.
Collection in the Town of Caledon has not changed.
“We’d prefer to continue to provide all services to our customers but that is not possible during the current situation,” said Dan Labrecque, Commissioner of Public Works.
