Region of Peel Council Ratifies Collective Agreements for Striking Bargaining Units
Region of Peel Council has ratified the Collective Agreements between the Regional Municipality of Peel and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 966 representing approximately 600 employees in Human Services and TransHelp. Ratification is based on the final offers presented by the Region on June 29.
On July 4, approximately 300 Public Works employees represented by CUPE Local 966 rejected the Regionís final offer presented on June 29; however, Council ratified the offer on July 5.
Ratification and return to work for members of the Human Services and TransHelp bargaining units is contingent on:
receipt of a signed agreement from CUPE Local 966 to the terms of the Regionís final offers,
evidence of the ratification by its membership, and
the partiesí agreement with or waiver of the Return to Work protocols.
The Region will post the Return to Work Protocols online at peelregion.ca for unionized Human Services and TransHelp employees when the above conditions have been met.
