Peel Paramedics Remind Trick-or-treaters to Be Safe

Trick-or-treaters

Look out for Peel Paramedics treating trick-or-treaters to glow bracelets and safety advice on Halloween night.

BRAMPTON, ON. (Oct. 24, 2012) – Peel Paramedic crews will be driving throughout Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga neighbourhoods handing out glow bracelets and safety advice on Halloween night.

“Our paramedics love being involved in campaigns that help keep kids safe and have a great time with the Halloween safety blitz every year,” says Brad Bowie, Community Relations Specialist for Peel Regional Paramedic Services.

Here are some safety tips to help prepare for Halloween:

  • Use costumes loose enough to be worn over warm clothing, but not too baggy or long;
  • Choose brightly-coloured costumes or add reflective tape to make yourself clearly visible;
  • Use masks that allow you to see and breathe easily. Make up is safer than masks;
  • Examine the goodies collected before eating any;
  • Cross only at street corners; look in all directions before crossing; obey traffic lights and walk across the street;
  • Avoid shortcuts through backyards, alleys or parks.

Peel Paramedics respond to more than 85,000 emergency medical calls every year. For more information about Peel Regional Paramedic Services visit peelems.ca, call 905-791-7800,
