BRAMPTON, ON (September 24, 2014) - The Region of Peel’s weekly yard waste collection in the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga returns the week of September 29 on residents’ regularly scheduled collection day and continues until November 27.
Residents who receive curbside waste collection services can find their collection calendars online by visiting http://www.peelregion.ca/pw/waste/yardwaste/ or in their 2014/15 Waste Management Guide, which was delivered to homes in April.
Please ensure that all small bundles of brush and kraft paper bags or containers of yard waste are placed at the curb on collection day following these instructions:
- small bundles of yard waste and brush must not exceed 1.2 m (4 ft.) and 76 cm (30 in.) in diameter and weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs.)
- individual branches and tree limbs must not exceed 1.2 m (4 ft.) in length and 7.5 cm (3 in.) in diameter and weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs.)
- place yard waste in labelled, open, rigid and reusable containers, bushel baskets, or paper yard waste bags
- yard waste set out in plastic bags, recycling boxes or cardboard boxes, or weighing more than 20 kg (44 lbs.) will not be collected
Please note: Large pieces of tree debris - exceeding 1.2 m (4 ft.) in length and 7.5 cm (3 in.) in diameter and weighing more than 20 kg (44 lbs.) - need to be cut into smaller pieces and bundled according to set-out standards in order to be collected curbside. Residents are reminded that cutting and removal of trees and related debris is a specialized skill, and are encouraged to hire a contractor to do the work.
Residents in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Asian Long Horned Beetle quarantined area of Malton cannot move any yard waste, nursery stock, trees, logs, lumber, wood, wood chips and bark chips out of the restricted area. Yard waste in this area will be collected from the curbside on regularly scheduled collection days but cannot be accepted for drop-off at any of the Region’s Community Recycling Centres.
