Expect Yard Waste Collection Delays In Brampton and Mississauga

BRAMPTON, ON (Nov. 11, 2015) -  Due to the high volume of yard waste set out at the curb, residents in the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga may experience yard waste collection delays for the remainder of this collection week.  If residents' yard waste is not collected on their regularly scheduled collection day they should set it out the next day and it will be picked up as a priority.

Residents are reminded to set yard waste at the curb for collection according to these guidelines:

  • small tied bundles of yard waste and brush must not exceed 1.2 m (4 ft.) and 76 cm (30  in.) in diameter and weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs.)
  • individual branches and tree limbs must not exceed 1.2 m (4 ft.) in length and 7.5 cm (3 in.) in diameter and weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs.)
  • place yard waste in labelled, open, rigid and reusable containers, bushel baskets, or paper yard waste bags
  • yard waste set out in plastic bags, recycling boxes or cardboard boxes, or weighing more than 20 kg (44 lbs.) will not be collected

Please note: Residents living in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Asian Long Horned Beetle (ALHB) quarantined area of Malton, cannot move any yard waste, nursery stock, trees, logs, lumber, wood, wood chips and bark chips out of the restricted area. Yard waste from the ALHB quarantined area cannot be accepted for disposal at any of the Region's Community Recycling Centres.

The Region of Peel provides waste management services in the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga and in the Town of Caledon.  Visit peelregion.ca/waste for more information on these programs.
