Come Together & Remember This November at Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives!

BRAMPTON, ON (November 2, 2015) – The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is the place to connect to our community and come together this November with Remembrance Day activities, the Courthouse Concert Series, interactive workshops and new exhibit Stitched Together: The Art and Warmth of Quilts.

Sunday Nov. 1 until Feb. 16, 2016: Stitched Together: The Art and Warmth of Quilts
Quilts tell the stories of the people who designed and used them. This exhibition explores Peel’s past through our vibrant quilt collection, which spans three centuries.

Thursday Nov. 5: Adult Workshops

Drawing Workshop, 6:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Explore different drawing techniques in a relaxed and creative environment. Students learn the fundamentals of composition, colour and drawing techniques, taking inspiration from the work of Stephanie Rayner: Boat of Eternal Return currently on display in our main art gallery. Costs start at $25/workshop.

Join the conversation with PAMA and the Brampton Library with this month’s choice The Glass Castle: a memoir by Jeannette Walls. The book discussion will be paired with a tour PAMA’s eye-opening exhibition Through Our Eyes: Homeless in Peel.

Saturday Nov. 7, 14, 21: Family Art + Yoga 2 - 3:30 p.m.

Learn classic yoga movements and create a unique piece of art. All levels of yoga students welcome.

Concerts in the Courtroom Series
PAMA’s restored 1860’s courtroom offers pitch perfect ambiance for our concert series.

Sunday, Nov. 8: Music of World War 1, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
Included with admission.
Ian Bell and Tom Leighton perform a lively and touching mixture of songs and instrumental music from the Great War era. This small town concert style performance offers sing-along opportunities.

Sunday, Nov. 22: Folk Music and Maps Talk, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Folklore mapping talk from 1:30 – 2:15 p.m.
Folk music performance from 2:15 – 3:30 p.m.
Join us for an engaging afternoon focused on folklore. This unique experience starts with a talk about folklore maps from the early 1930’s and concludes with a folk music performance by Alex Sinclair and Anne Lindsay.

PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region’s culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community. Throughout the year, PAMA offers a variety of workshops and programs for all ages, families and adults. With so many different programs to choose from, PAMA has something for everyone.
