Celebrate Culture Days Weekend for Free at PAMA

BRAMPTON, ON (August 31, 2015) – The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) kicks off fall with a great line-up of contemporary art, family activities and unique events, including our free action-packed Culture Days weekend on Sept. 26 and 27th!

Sept. 1 – 6 is the last week for FREE admission and to share your priorities for the future of our communities at the interactive Can you Imagine? exhibit.

Sept. 4 – Nov. 27: Mapping Peel: An Exploration of Maps from the Peel Archives
Free with admission
In recognition of International Map Year (IMY), a worldwide celebration of maps, the Archives will display a variety of historic maps and plans from the collection.

Sept. 16: #AskaCurator Twitter Event
PAMA is a proud participant in the Ask a Curator Day social media trend. This online event is your chance to ask our knowledgeable curators anything you’ve ever wanted to know about the PAMA collections and the world of arts and culture. Our curators will be online all day long to take your questions! Send a tweet to @visitpama using #AskaCurator to join in!

Sept. 18: PAMA Kids (P.A. Days)

Dive into the world of printmaking with inspiration from our exhibition Timeless Creations: Prints by Stanley Lewis.

Sept. 19: Family Art + Yoga
Free with admission
Learn classic yoga movements and create a unique piece of art. All levels of yoga students welcome. 2-3:30 p.m.

Sept. 26: Doors Open Brampton
PAMA is proud to join the international Doors Open tradition by offering free admission and special activities all day long, including:

  • Tours of the Historic Court House
  • Curators’ talks at 11 a.m., 1p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Guess the Mystery Object in Manning Square

Sept. 26 & 27: Culture Days
This annual event provides the community with opportunities to participate in and appreciate art and culture. PAMA is a proud supporter of Culture Days 2015, offering free admission and special activities all weekend long, including:

  • Drop-in instructor-led activities in both the art gallery and museum
  • Music workshops hosted by the Encore School of Music (Sat. 2-3 p.m. & Sun. 1:30-2:30 p.m.)
  • Community Art Quilt Project, hosted by Progressive Art for Progressive Kids (Sunday only)
  • Exploring Body Positivity with Waist Beads Jewellery hosted by Signature of a Mango by Lamoi (Sun. 3-5 p.m.)

Sept. 26 – January 10: Stephanie Rayner: Boat of Eternal Return
Sneak preview Culture Days weekend Sept. 26 & 27
Artist’s Talk on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 2 – 3 p.m.
Opening Reception Oct. 4, 2 – 4 p.m.

This exhibition presents Rayner’s innovative sculptural installation. Part boat, part musical instrument, this 30 foot sculpture mixes an array of unexpected materials, including moose ribs and DNA sequencing gels, to create a powerful metaphor for life, death and reincarnation.

Sept. 29: PAMA Kids (P.A. Days)
Free with admission
Celebrate the International Year of the Map by creating your own animated map and discovering PAMA’s interactive map.

PAMA is closed Monday Sept. 7 for the statutory holiday.

PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region’s culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community. Throughout the year, PAMA offers a variety of workshops and programs for all ages, families and adults. With so many different programs to choose from, PAMA has something for everyone.
