Delivery of New Peel Region Waste Collection Carts Starting Today
More than 1 million carts to be delivered throughout the region
BRAMPTON, ON. (Sept. 14, 2015) – September 14 marks the beginning of deliveries of the garbage, recycling and organics carts that will be part of Peel Region’s new waste collection program that begins in January, 2016. Deliveries will start in Brampton first, followed by Caledon and then on to Mississauga. By the end of the delivery program in December, more than 1 million carts will be delivered to Peel residents.
The approximate delivery schedule for carts is as follows:
- Brampton: Sept.14 - Oct. 22
- Caledon: Oct. 16 - Oct. 28
- Mississauga: Oct. 21 - Dec. 5
“We are starting delivery of the new collection carts now to ensure all the carts are in place when the new waste collection program begins in January,” said Peel Region Waste Management Director Norman Lee. “Ensuring every home in Peel Region receives the correct carts on time is a complex and time consuming process and we’d like to thank everyone in advance for their patience.”
Residents are reminded to continue using their existing garbage bins and recycling boxes and not to use the new carts until January 2016 when the new waste collection program begins. Carts put out prior to January 2016 will not be collected.
|Workers prepare the new waste collection carts for delivery to Peel residents. More than 1 million carts are scheduled to be delivered throughout the Region by December.
“Residents should select a good spot for the new carts to be stored until January,” says Lee.
An owner’s manual will be included with the carts that describes their proper use and provides an overview of the new collection program.
“We think residents are going to like their new carts,” says Lee. “They have wheels that make it easier to bring to the curb and lids to prevent litter.
Residents are encouraged to visit peelregion.ca/waste for more information on the program.
