Fun is Flowering this May at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives

BRAMPTON, ON (Wednesday, April 25) – May is Museum Month and the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is celebrating with a variety of great programming for all ages. We are observing the month with a FREE admission weekend on May 19 and 20. In addition to our year-round favourites, other highlights in May include a FREE Green Thumb Gardening Series and a new Creative Expressions exhibition. We will be closed for Victoria Day on Monday, May 21.

Join us for Museum Month celebrations on Family Fun Day, Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Become a curator and add to the PAMA Kids Community Museum Wall. Join us on Family Day each month for a day full of creativity and fun activities such as art + yoga, art + stories, family tours and more.

Participate in our special Museum Month weekly contest and win fun PAMA prize packs all month long on our social media channels— @visitpama on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

We will also continue to offer our year-round personalized small group tours offered by our Visitor Service Guides. Inquire at reception when you arrive to arrange a Guide for your next visit.

PAMA Tots

Wednesday, May 2 to June 27, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. (8-week program, excluding May 30) This program is targeted at caregivers with newborns to 12 months. Have a newborn and looking to get out of the house? Open their little minds through story and songs. Free for a limited time and pre-registration is required.

Get Creative for Mother’s Day

Join us on Saturday, May 5, 1 – 3:30 p.m. for a Seed Paper Making workshop and create a surprise made by you that a special someone can plant this upcoming Mother’s Day. This workshop is included in the cost of PAMA admission ($12 for a family, 2 adults and up to 5 kids). Registration is required.

New Exhibitions

Community Connections, Art from PAMA’s Creative Expressions Program
May 12 to July 22
This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between PAMA and the Government of Canada and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast. Also with generous funding from the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation; the Mississauga Community Foundation and the Region of Peel, PAMA offers Creative Expressions art workshops designed for children and adults with developmental and physical challenges. The program provides participants with confidence and a sense of pride that translates into their everyday life and their interactions with the community around them. This exhibition will showcase the amazing work created during the program.

FREE Green Thumb Garden Series in partnership with EcoSource

May 16 - Gardening at Home in Any Space
Learn how you can grow (and eat) your own healthy sprouts and microgreens indoors, no special equipment or lights required.

May 23 - Growing Herbs and Making Herbal Teas
Learn the basics of growing and using herbs and make your own tea blends.

May 30 - World of Wild Weeds
Plants are powerful organisms that can harm, heal and sometimes take over the whole yard. Discover what kinds of plants are growing and some of their uses.

Enjoy Year-Round Favourites

Knit@PAMA - Thursdays, 6 – 8 p.m.
Drop-in for an evening of knitting and conversation. Beginners and experienced knitters are welcomed. Supplies and knitting support are included. Free admission to this activity only.

Family Fun Weekend Activity - Saturdays and Sundays, 1 – 4:30 p.m.
This month we are having fun with food, inspired by our What’s for Dinner? exhibition in our hands-on family friendly area Manning Square. Guide your family through art projects and inspire creativity. These drop-in activities are included in the cost of PAMA admission.

Brampton Folk Concert - Thursday, May 10, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Brampton Folk Club presents Flowers in your Hair with March Yan, Brian Gladstone and Glen Hornblast.

Peel Aboriginal Drumming Circle - Thursday, May 17, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Participate in an evening of shared traditions and songs. Free admission is offered to this activity.
