Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Queen Street (Regional Road 6)
from Chinguacousy Road to Mississauga Road

The Study

The Regional Municipality of Peel has completed a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for Queen Street, from Chinguacousy Road to Mississauga Road, in the City of Brampton. Queen Street is a major east-west arterial road corridor that is experiencing increasing travel demand. The proposed preferred design/solution includes a combination of road widening; intersection improvements; horizontal and vertical re-alignment; and rehabilitation, replacement or expansion of various watercourse crossing structures. The Study Area is shown on the plan provided below.

This study is being conducted in accordance with Schedule ‘C’ of the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2000) (Class EA). The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements, and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

In accordance with the Class EA process, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) documenting the study results has been prepared. The ESR is available for public review for a period of 30 calendar days (starting on January 15, 2007 and ending on February 14, 2007) at the following locations.

Comments

All issues or concerns may be brought to the attention of Ms. Sandy Lovisotto, Region of Peel Project Manager (see below for contact information). If concerns arising during the prescribed review period cannot be resolved through discussion with the Region of Peel, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment make an order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act, which addresses individual environmental assessments. This request (referred to as a Part II Order request) must be received within the above 30 calendar day review period by the Minister, at the following address:

A copy of the request must also be sent to the Region of Peel Project Manager (see below for contact information). If no request is sent to the Minister of the Environment and received by February 14, 2007, the Region may proceed with design and construction of the project as outlined in the ESR.
