Notice of Study Commencement

Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Queen Street (Regional Road 6)
from Chinguacousy Road to Mississauga Road

The Regional Municipality of Peel is initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to address upgrade and expansion requirements at the Gore Road Sewage Pumping Station in the City of Brampton. The station was constructed in 1986 to provide sanitary servicing to primarily industrial-commercial land in the Bram East Sanitary Catchment Area and is now nearing its capacity. To ensure the station is able to handle the projected 2021 peak flow from the Catchment Area, major upgrades to the station are being considered.

The Study Area is limited to the pumping station catchment area, which includes approximately 102 hectares of industrial/commercial land north and south of Highway 107 (Queen Street) between Highway 50 and McVean Drive.

The planning of this project is proceeding as a Schedule “B” undertaking in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, June 2000, as prepared by the Municipal Engineers Association. The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, impact assessment of proposed alternatives, and identification of measures to mitigate adverse impacts.

The Region of Peel is interested in receiving public input and comments during the planning and design process of this project. Subject to comments received and receipt of necessary approvals, the Region of Peel intends to proceed with the planning, design and construction of this project in 2007.
