Inglewood Reservoir Expansion
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment

The Regional Municipality of Peel is initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to address expansion requirements at the Inglewood Reservoir in the Town of Caledon. In order to ensure adequacy of water supply volumes and continued public safety and reliability in the drinking water system serving the community of Inglewood, there is a need to expand the Inglewood Reservoir. Issues to be addressed are reservoir capacity requirements for sustainable development, ease of operation and maintenance and overall improvements to the existing reservoir.

The Study Area is limited to the existing reservoir site located on the west side of McLaughlin Road, North of the Village of Inglewood (west half of Lot 3, Concession 2 in the Town of Caledon).

The planning of this project is proceeding as a Schedule “B” undertaking in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, June 2000, as prepared by the Municipal Engineers Association. The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, impact assessment of proposed alternatives, and identification of measures to mitigate adverse impacts.

The Region of Peel is interested in receiving public input and comments during the planning and design process of this project. Subject to comments received and receipt of necessary approvals, the Region of Peel intends to proceed with the planning, design and construction of this project in 2007.
