NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT AND PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE

The REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF PEEL hereby notifies all interested individuals and residents that a study will commence for the municipal roadway and intersection improvements to Steeles Avenue East and Goreway Drive in the city of Brampton Ontario.

The planning of the project will be completed in accordance with the provincial guidelines governing “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment” under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The roadway traffic data and projections provide the necessary background “Need and Justification” for the project.

This study is in close proximity to two other studies; the Goreway Drive Improvements (Humberwest Parkway to Mayfield Road) Class Environmental Assessment; and Improvements to Goreway Drive (Steeles Avenue to Brandon Gate Drive) Class Environmental Assessment; currently being undertaken separately by the City of Brampton. Although the three projects are close to each other, the Steeles Avenue/Goreway Drive Intersection Improvements undertaking represents different problems from those of the other two studies.

The purpose of the Steeles Avenue/Goreway Drive Intersection Improvements study is to examine solutions to provide additional left turn traffic capacity within the intersection.

This study will be undertaken in accordance with Class Environmental Assessment Schedule B.  A key component of the study will be consultation with interested property owners, residents and interested stakeholders at a Public Information Centre.
