NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE #2

Lakeview and Port Credit Sanitary Sewer Improvements
Class Environmental Assessment

The Study
The Region of Peel has confirmed the need to construct a new pump station, associated gravity sewers and forcemain in the Lakeview area of Port Credit. This will address capacity issues in the existing system due to wet weather flows and infill development and ongoing maintenance issues with the existing siphon under Cooksville Creek.

The Process
The Region has planned this project under Schedule ‘C’ of the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2000). The first part of this study is completed, dealing with Phase 1 and 2 of the Class Environmental Assessment, the selection of a preferred solution. The preferred solution recommends the construction of a new pump station on Lakeshore Road East, west of Cooksville Creek. Figure 1 is a conceptual plan only and does not indicate an exact location for the proposed pump station.

Public Information Centre (PIC)
The first PIC was held September 14, 2006 to introduce the project and solicit input on the choice of a preferred solution. A second PIC is scheduled and will consist of an informal drop-in centre. Those attending will have an opportunity to meet the Project Team, review the study scope and discuss the issues related to the project, including existing and anticipated future conditions, and provide comments prior to any decisions being made on the final design.

The schedule for the PIC is as follows:

Date: April 25, 2007
Place: Mississauga Senior’s Centre
1389 Cawthra Rd.
Mississauga, ON L5G 4L1
Time: 6 - 9 p.m.

Comments
You are encouraged to attend the PIC and provide your comments. Public comments received through the course of the study will be considered before a final decision is made.
