NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE #2
Class Environmental Assessment
Mayfield Road/Albion-Vaughan Road and Peel R.R. #50/York R.R. #24
Intersection Improvement

The Study
The Regional Municipality of Peel and the Regional Municipality of York are conducting a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for intersection improvements at Mayfield Road/Albion-Vaughan Road and Peel R.R. #50/York R.R. #24. The study area is situated within the City of Brampton, Town of Caledon, City of Vaughan, and Regional municipalities of Peel and York. Significant growth along the Highway 50 and Mayfield Road corridors has increased traffic volumes such that the intersection is experiencing congestion and a decreased level of service during peak hours. A commuter parking lot adjacent to the intersection is planned to proceed through a public process, separate from this EA study. The study area is shown on the plan provided below.

A comprehensive and environmentally-sound planning process that incorporates public consultation and involves a wide variety of stakeholders is required.  At the first Public Information Centre held in February 2007, the preferred solution to the identified problem was presented as:  the need to reconstruct and widen the study intersection. During the past few months, the details of this proposal have been evaluated further.

The Process
The study is being conducted in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Association (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (June 2000). The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements, and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

Upon completion of this study, a Screening Document detailing the process will be available for public review for a period of 30 calendar days.

Public consultation is vital to this study.  We want to ensure that anyone with an interest in this study has the opportunity to get involved and provide input before any decisions are made on the preferred design.

Public Information Centre
The second of two planned Public Information Centres will be held:

Date: Wednesday, July 4, 2007
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Room ‘C’, Albion-Bolton Community Centre, 150 Queen Street South, Bolton

The Public Information Centre will consist of an informal drop-in centre with display information on the alternative designs considered and the technically preferred design. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the project team, ask questions and provide comments. Anyone with an interest in the study is invited to attend and participate.

We are interested in hearing any comments that you may have about the study. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record.
