NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT
Class Environmental Assessment
Streetsville Pumping
Station and Reservoir Capacity Increase

The Study
The Regional Municipality of Peel’s Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan (2001) identified the need for an increase in reservoir capacity, as well as pumping capacity, in Zones 3 & 4 of the Region’s water distribution network. Site of the Streetsville Pumping station and ReservoirThe increased capacity is required to service South-Central Peel Region. Stand-by power is required to ensure water supply in the case of a power failure. Currently, the Streetsville Pumping Station and Reservoir services Peel Region pressure Zones 3 & 4, but it requires additional capacity to meet future water demand. The proposed works are required to be in place by 2010 in order to accommodate anticipated development and projected water demand. Preliminary geotechnical work will be undertaken at the Streetsville Pumping Station and Reservoir in July of 2007 by a single drilling crew working one to two days maximum. The operation of the tennis courts and the leash free park will not be interrupted with this work.

The Process
The study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements for Schedule B projects as described in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, June 2000 (Municipal Class EA). The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the impacts of any proposed undertakings, and identification of reasonable measures to mitigate any adverse impacts. Upon completion of the study, a Project File will be placed on public record.
