Notice of Study Completion
Class Environmental Assessment
Gore Road Sewage Pumping Station Expansion
Project Number 04-2983

The Region of Peel has completed a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to address upgrade and expansion requirements at the Gore Road Sewage Pumping Station in the City of Brampton. Four alternative solutions were identified and evaluated during the planning process. Based on this evaluation, alternative solution No. 4, “Pumping Station Expansion”, was selected as the Preferred Solution.

The study was completed in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment planning process document as a Schedule “B” activity. The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts. An Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to document the planning and decision-making process followed by this study. By this notice, the ESR is being placed on public record for a 30-day review period, in accordance with the requirements of the Class EA process.

The Environmental Study Report will be available for public review from July 27, 2007 until August 27, 2007 at the following locations:

Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice and the receipt of necessary approvals, the Region of Peel intends to proceed with the detailed design and construction as documented in the ESR.

Interested persons should provide written comment to the Region on the Preferred Solution within 30 calendar days from the date of this Notice. Comments should be directed to either of the following individuals:

If concerns arise during the prescribed Review Period that cannot be resolved through discussions with the Region of Peel, a person or party may request that the Minister of Environment make an order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act. This request (commonly referred to as a Part II Order) must be received within the above prescribed 30 calendar day review period by the Minister, at the address listed below and copied to Mr. Bob Nieuwenhuysen at the Region of Peel. If no request is received on or before August 27, 2007, the Region may proceed with detailed design and construction of the project.
