NOTICE OF COMPLETION

CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR
CALEDON EAST WATER SUPPLY

The Regional Municipality of Peel has completed a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Caledon East/Mono Road community to address the need for future water demands in the area. The community is serviced by three municipal wells. The Ministry of the Environment’s Permit to Take Water (PTTW) for these wells currently restricts the combined average and maximum day water withdrawal. In support of the Study, a hydrogeological investigation was undertaken to evaluate any potential environmental impacts of revising the PTTW. The primary purpose of this Class EA is to evaluate groundwater withdrawal through the existing wells CE2, CE3 and CE4, and to determine the degree to which that withdrawal can be increased without notable impact on the environment. The preferred solution is to increase withdrawal from existing wells, at a rate prescribed by the results of the hydrogeological investigation.

This Study is being conducted in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for Water and Wastewater Projects (2000). The Class EA process included public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.
