Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
for Renewal of Etobicoke Creek Trunk sewer
From North End of Southcreek Road to CPR Tracks

TheStudy

The Regional Municipality of Peel has identified the need to review rehabilitation options for a section of 2100 mm Sanitary Sewer on the Etobicoke Creek Trunk Sewer, north and south of Dundas Street, City of Mississauga (see map). The Region of Peel has retained R.V. Anderson Associates Limited to undertake a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to evaluate alternative solutions and identify the preferred alternative to renew a section of the Trunk Sewer. Alternative solutions include rehabilitation and/ or replacement of this section of the existing trunk sewer.

TheProcess

This Study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements for Schedule ‘B’ projects as described in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2007 update). The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the impacts of any proposed undertakings, and identification of reasonable measures to mitigate any adverse impacts. Upon completion of this study, a Project File will be placed on public record.

The Importance of Public Input

Public consultation is vital to this Study. The Region wants to ensure that anyone with an interest in this Study has the opportunity to get involved and provide input before any decisions are made on the preferred alternative. Public input and comments are invited for incorporation into the planning and design of this project. Subject to completion of this Study, the Region intends to proceed with the planning, design and construction of this project, to be completed in 2009/2010.
