Steeles Avenue/Airport Road Intersection Improvements
Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study

The Regional Municipality of Peel is initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to investigate improvements to the Steeles Avenue/Airport Road Intersection in the City of Brampton.

The Process
This Study is being conducted as a Schedule 'B' project, in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007) document.

The Class EA process includes consultation with regulatory agencies, landowners, and the public, screening of alternative solutions, an impact assessment and identification of mitigating measures. A Project File will be maintained during the course of the study, and upon completion of the Study, an EA Summary Report will be placed on public record for a 30-day review period. Public consultation is vital to this Study. We want to ensure that anyone with an interest in this Study has the opportunity to get involved and provide input, before any decisions are made on a preferred solution or design concept.

As part of this Study, a Public Information Centre (PIC) is tentatively scheduled for late winter or early spring of 2008, at a location in close proximity to the Study Area. The PIC will provide background information on the Study, an informal presentation of alternative solutions and the preferred solution. Representatives from the Region will be present at the PIC to answer questions and discuss the next steps in the Study. Notification of the Public Information Centre will be provided at an appropriate time by means of a similar advertisement in this newspaper.
