Notice of Public Information Centre No.2

Glen Erin Booster Pumping Station
Class Environmental Assessment

The Region of Peel is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to select the preferred site for the Glen Erin Booster Pumping Station and Feedermain route alignment, in the City of Mississauga. The project is being proposed as a result of observed low and high water pressures within the study area in the Region of Peel. The observations are consistent with previous modifications to the Region’s pressure zone boundaries. In an effort to resolve these concerns improvements are proposed to regulate pressures in the Region’s Pressure Zones 4 and 5.

Study AreaThe study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements of Schedule ‘B’ projects of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (June 2000). The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

Public and review agency consultation is a key element of the Class EA process. The Region wants to ensure that anyone interested in the study has an opportunity to get involved and provide input before any decisions are made on a preferred solution.

A first Public Information Centre (PIC) was held on Jan. 21, 2008 to introduce the project, the alternative sites for the booster pumping station and the feedermain routes, and the evaluation criteria to be used for the selection of the site and the feedermain.

A second PIC is scheduled for:
