Bovaird Drive Watermain Replacement
Class Environmental Assessment

The Regional Municipality of Peel is concerned about the integrity of the existing 400 mm diameter asbestos cement watermain located along the south side of Bovaird Drive, between Hurontario Street and Royal Orchard Drive (Van Kirk Drive). The Region intends to replace that section of watermain with a more durable type of pipe material. The site location and approximate extent of the Study Area are shown on the Plan provided below.

The Study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule B planning process as described in the Municipal Engineers Association’s “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment” document dated October 2000, as amended in 2007. The Class Environmental Assessment planning process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the effects of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

Public consultation is vital to this study. The Region wants to ensure that anyone with an interest in this study has the opportunity to comment on the proposed work prior to construction. As such, the Region intends to prepare design drawings of the watermain replacement and to make those drawings available for public review. Upon completion of preliminary drawings, a second Notice will be distributed by the Region to all potentially affected properties along the work area of Bovaird Drive. The Notice will advise the public that the preliminary drawings may be reviewed at the Region’s offices at 11 Indell Lane, Brampton, for a period of 30 days. The Region is interested in receiving comments on the proposed work and any comments received will form part of the public record (with the exception of personal information).
