Class Environmental Assessement Fletcher's Creek Trunk Sewer Twinning Between Queen Street and Steeles Avenue

The Regional Municipality of Peel is undertaking a study to identify a preferred solution for meeting future capacity requirements in the Fletcher's Creek Trunk Sewer. The proposed study area is outlined below. In the study area, the existing trunk sewer is located along Fletcher's Creek between Queen Street West and Steeles Avenue West in the City of Brampton. It varies in diameter from 900-1200 mm with a total length of approximately 3.8 km.

The twinning of the sewer is required to support the planned growth in northwest Brampton and future capacity deficiencies based on updated population and employment projections to the 2031 planning horizon.

The study is being planned under Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process in accordance with the Municipal Engineers’ Association’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, September 2007.

Before any decisions are made on a preferred alternative for the proposed twinning, all residents, agencies and stakeholders will have an opportunity to attend Public Information Centre meetings. A total of two Public Information Centre (PIC) meetings are planned during this study.

Accordingly, it is proposed to hold the first PIC meeting to provide project information to the public and to receive input. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to review background information, including the problem statement. The study area environmental and social features, along with the proposed solutions, evaluation criteria and methodology will also be presented for public review and input. Representatives from the Region and its consultants will be present to answer any questions.
