Notice of Public Meeting and Open Houses

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel will hold a statutory public meeting and open houses, pursuant to Sections 3(15), 5 and 6 of the Ontario Regulation 543/06; Sections 26(3), 17(15) and 17(16) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13, as amended, to discuss draft Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) 20.  ROPA 20 is related to proposed sustainability and energy policies for the Regional Official Plan that may be required as part of the five-year Peel Region Official Plan Review.

Open Houses
Regional planning staff will be conducting two open houses. The first will be hosted by Regional staff at the Region of Peel Headquarters and the second will be a joint Open House, hosted by Regional and Town of Caledon staff at the Caledon Community Complex. The open houses will provide members of the public with an opportunity to ask questions of staff and learn about draft ROPA 20 pertaining to proposed sustainability and energy policies in the Regional Official Plan.

Public Meeting
In addition to the two open houses, a statutory public meeting will also be held at Regional Council:

Please note that Council will not be making a decision at this meeting; however, comments on the proposed draft ROPA 20 will be received.

The purpose and effect of the draft ROPA is to consider policy revisions to the Regional Official Plan as it relates to sustainability and energy and whether these proposed policies conform to all of the current provincial plans, policies and legislation.

The lands to which the potential Official Plan revisions apply are the entire Region of Peel.

Any person may attend the public meeting and/or provide written or verbal representation on the draft ROPA 20.  If you wish to speak to Council or provide written comments on the draft ROPA, please contact Jeff Payne, Deputy Clerk, no later than Feb. 19, 2009:

If you wish to be notified of future adoption of amendments of the Regional Official Plan, please make a written request to Jeff Payne, Deputy Clerk.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to Peel Council before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of Regional Council to the Ontario Municipal Board.  Also, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
